Floorball

Plan and track the result of your Floorball.

Floorball is played on an indoor court surrounded by a rink of wooden or plastic boards. Each team has six players and games have three 20-minute periods. Plastic sticks are used and players are not allowed to touch the ball with their arms, head, or hands. The game is complicated by the fact that the goalkeeper can only handle the ball while part of his or her body is touching the floor within the goal space. Use of the body is not permitted in a game of floorball.

Floorball was developed in Sweden during the 1960’s for schoolchildren. It’s a relatively new sport and several countries have followed suit with similar versions of the game. The origins for the game are often traced to field hockey, as both utilize sticks and a ball.

Muscles of the core, as well as the legs and arms, must be strongly developed to be a competitive floorball player. Running is often encouraged as an activity to condition the body for floorball play. The abdominal muscles must be strengthened to hold the body in various positions, readying the player for the potential of getting ball on a moment’s notice.
